We’ve already heard that iOS 6 will feature a mind-blowing new Maps app,
Facebook integration, Siri for iPad and revamped stock apps – but that may be just the beginning of what we’ll see in Apple’s next-gen mobile platform.
iOS 6 is expected to borrow a number of features uncovered in OS X Mountain Lion, including a new “do not disturb” mode for notifications, Safari tab syncing through iCloud, and the ability to designate certain contacts as VIPs in Mail.app.
According to trusted sources, iOS 6 will include iCloud Tabs support, Mail VIPs, and a simple, yet handy and so-far praised Notification Center enhancement. [...] Like in Mountain Lion, Mail VIPs in iOS 6 puts a star next to emails received from a specified group of people. VIPs assigned to iCloud accounts will sync with iCloud across iOS 6 iPads, iPhones, iPod touches, and OS X Mountain Lion Macs. [...]
The feature I’m most excited about, however, is “Do Not Disturb” for notifications, which allows you to quickly disable all alerts and banners in Notification Center, which could be especially useful when working on a certain task without having to worry about interruptions.
iOS 6 is expected to be demoed at WWDC, and the first developer betas of iOS 6 should launch at WWDC or shortly thereafter, It’s unclear how many of these features will be demoed on stage at next week’s WWDC keynote.
