Download OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview 3

OS-X-Mountain-Lion-Developer-Preview-2Just one month after Apple released the first revision to its Developer Preview of the upcoming OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) OS, the third Developer Preview has just been seeded, and as the title reveals, it’s only for those paying subscribers of Apple’s Developer program.

This latest build is 12A178q, and since it’s only just been seeded, the new features and changes have yet to be ascertained. However, Apple has, in great detail, noted of some known bugs and issues with the latest iteration of the upcoming OS.
At the moment, installing OS X 10.8 over 10.7.2 (or previous) using FileVault activated may not work, while some Apple menu items may not function correctly if there’s a sandboxed app in the foreground. Also, iTunes is currently having difficulty syncing notes – it isn’t, in fact, syncing them at all – while Mail’s photo browser can’t access the iPhoto library at this point in time.
That’s just a couple of the issues Apple will need to resolve from this version if the projected late summer release of Mountain Lion is to bear fruit. It still has its fair share of bugs crawling through, but after the teaser back in February, there’s still much for Mac users to be excited about.

With iOS becoming so popular in such a short space of time – mainly through the so-called post-PC device that is the iPad – it was almost a formality that elements of Apple’s mobile and desktop operating system would begin crossing over. Mountain Lion is an amalgamation of the two, and as is always the case with Apple products, we expect everything – and every device – to be perfectly harmonious and in sync.
The Game Center, which was pushed through with iOS 4, is an implementation Apple is currently working hard to perfect. Described as casual gamers, those gracing some of iOS’s top titles are invariably anything but, and the Cupertino-based company wants its vast array of titles to offer the competitive multiplayer portal seen on consoles such as Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network.
As mentioned, it’s set to drop late this summer, although with so much to do and only a few potential developer previews to come, having everything ready by the deadline period is going to take much development.
As usual, you’ll need to be a developer in order to download Mountain Lion, Developer Preview 3, and if you’ve a vested interest into the inner workings of OS X, it’s strongly recommended you sign on to the program.
